POST PRODUCTION

                                        EDITING OUR MUSIC VIDEO

The editing was Divided between me and Zainab.

In this project, we chose to work out of our comfort zone by using an editing program that I had previously used, CapCut. The following is a step by step analysis of how we went about the process.

Firstly we had gone through all the raw footage and then have scanned away the bloopers and any other clips that we did not want to include in the project and that was how we arrived at the final takes of the project.

Then zainab and I listened to the music and selected all the clips in accordance with the lyrics, where every line started and where it was finished. Then I divided and cut the video so as to get a smooth flow with the music.

During beat drops, Zainab added a quick split for a fraction of a second before continuing the video, creating a blink effect that synced with the music.

We concentrated on the individuals in the video through the effect of scaling as well as added filler shots between each person to create a natural movement in between the individuals. This contributed to lessening embarrassing pauses and made the images captivating.

To make everything look the same in the whole video, we both sharpened each of the clips and added an adjustment layer to either sharpen or smooth out the shot.

I added a retro filter so that the video would have a vintage and nostalgic look and in the animation a zoom in effect so that the accent would be on the bass.

Then Zainab downloaded the audio on her phone from YouTube and turned it into mp3 and normalised it so the highs and the lows were not too sharp. Then I adjusted the track precisely to the clips which I had chosen.

I also used voice changer effect on the live music to distort the vocals and make the sound more impressive.

The Times New Roman font was used to add the text, which was Faded in, and it matched the music video. I used a fade-out effect to eventually bring to a close the look and the text, at the end.

We started by categorizing all of my pictures and video clips in the proper format and eliminating unusable videos and errors. After filtering, I cropped and refined the clips and imported them to CapCut where We edited them.

We then split the clips into parts in order to achieve a non-linear structure of the music video. This was a significant strategy in making the project more organized and rhythmic. At that point, I placed the clips on the timeline and created the flow and began the technical editing.

In the case of audio, Zainab downloaded the song on YouTube, converted it to MP3, normalized the sound (to ensure the highs and lows were not too sharp), and synchronized it with the video. I also used a voice changer effect in sections when live music was playing so that it would be varied and interesting.

Regarding visuals, We used scaling effects to highlight the people on the video and the filler shots, to ease the transition between subjects, avoiding the feeling of abrupt changes. We refined the clips by correcting the exposure and highlights with an adjustment layer in order to keep the constant appearance. To make the music video look retro, I used a retro filter and at the very end a slight brown filter to enhance the overall clarity and resolution of the image due to changes of light.

In text, I used Times New Roman to transition in the text of the title, Everlost and in harmony with the video, and used a fade-out effect in the end so as to provide a smooth end.

In terms of cuts and pacing, I applied smooth cuts throughout the video, split cuts when the beat dropped to form a blink effect, fast-paced jump cuts to keep up with the BPM of the music and flashing camera cuts to preserve the aesthetic and the energy of the video.

Lastly, We made sure that every audio was similar with no distortion but the product was smooth.

GRAPHIC DESIGN:

In this section, I utilized Canva through my laptop to produce my posters and other resources because it offered me easier access to the tools and was able to work conveniently in a single place.

Others are my former A levels projects.

"Here, I’m creating my poster and modifying the color scheme to align with the alternative rock style color palette."

"Next, I added images and text to match my style."

"Finally, I completed the last adjustments and downloaded the poster."

This is the camera shot template I used for my shots.

SOCIAL MEDIA REACTIONS:

MY VIEWS:

By far the most pleasant part of this project was editing. I am a person who has always been fascinated by technology, and the fact that the ideas I had on my mind were finally put onto screen with some sophisticated editing tools and software with which I was not familiar before was truly an eye opener. It was not the easiest task but I spent hours a day learning the program, trying out the effects, and assembling clips, viewing tutorials on the internet and even spending money on a professional course to lead me in the structure. On the whole, this was a challenging and thrilling experience, and I look forward to using such abilities in future videos and blogs, and keep experimenting and developing as a media producer.
